Slugs In My Living Room At Night
Slugs and snails hide in damp places during the day.
Slugs in my living room at night. What do they eat. They are attracted to moist environments and the presence of a slug may mean you have rotting wood in your room or possibly foods that they like. If the slugs are getting in through the air bricks then it is likely living in the floor void.
Slugs have a great sense of smell so. Apparently one of the reasons slugs may venture into the house particularly an old house is because they are likely to be cool dark and moist so if you have a damp problem that could be one reason. They particularly like young tender plants and can eat the entire plant or leave large ragged holes in foliage.
Put some around the outside of the house. Personally I dont bother with gloves when I handle copper tape. They also hide under planters and low decks.
However slugs can also sometimes stick to you because of their slime trail so if theres just the one and you dont find rotting wood you can assume the slug came from outside probably. Put slug pellets ONLY on the cellophane in the middle of the room or the area of trails youve seen. Check that all pipes to your kitchen sink etc are filled around the edges.
These also offer good route of entry for slugs but also other insects such as woodlice. Few slug pellets on tinfoil down at night. Slugs do the most damage at night.
Not that youll be able to spot them they tend to come out at night but the slimy criss-cross snail trail they leave behind on your rugs carpets and hard floors will tell you all you need to know. The time of year is important. Alternatively put the salt in the beer and watch the slugs drown and froth up at the same time.
